Power up learning 🔋
WRTP / BIG STEP uses a program called TRANSFR that allows students to practice welding, CDL driving, and other construction and manufacturing skills in a safe, controlled environment before attempting them in real-world settings. Batteries are needed for the controllers of our VR headsets.

Building an expanded, qualified workforce ⚙
In its Expanding Apprenticeship Pathways report, the Wisconsin Policy Forum explores the possibilities to expand pre-apprenticeship programs in Wisconsin, identifying factors such as demand, participation, and employment opportunities 💼
The Wisconsin Policy Forum finds, “State job projections show an annual total of 11,393 job openings in Wisconsin from 2022 to 2032 across…six selected construction and production occupations. Demand is especially strong for construction laborers (2,547), inspectors (2,151), and welders (2,088).”
At WRTP / BIG STEP, we offer inventive pre-apprenticeship programs and specialized training that lead to direct career pathways in the skilled trades 🛠
The strong demand for construction and production roles means our graduates are sought after upon program completion. At the same time, we are building a skilled talent pipeline that connects employers with a qualified, prepared workforce to fill these openings.

WRTP / BIG STEP’s CDL Program will set you up to obtain your commercial driver’s license, helping you get one step closer to a career in construction or transportation!
To get started, register for orientation by January 5, 2026 (spots are limited)!
Orientation dates:

📅 Wednesday, January 14 | 12 – 1:30 PM (virtual)
After orientation, you will complete a virtual course and then attend in-person CDL behind-the-wheel training.
