Success Stories: Derrick Powe | WRTP

I am thrilled to share the inspiring success story of one of our former students, Derrick Powe. With our support, he overcame significant personal challenges and is now flourishing in his second year of the sheet metal apprenticeship program.

Derrick is a justice-impacted individual who participated in our Entry-Level Construction Skills program. He quickly proved himself to be dedicated and hardworking, and his work ethic extended well beyond addressing his personal barriers. Throughout our training, he exhibited exemplary performance in his coursework, demonstrating a genuine passion for sheet metal work and welding. His commitment to self-improvement translated into consistent attendance, a positive attitude, and a willingness to learn.

Today, I am delighted to announce that Derrick has successfully completed the first year of his sheet metal apprenticeship and is now thriving in his second year. His journey serves as a testament to the transformative power of education, mentorship, and a supportive community. Not only has Derrick acquired valuable technical skills, but he has also developed essential life skills that will contribute to his success both professionally and personally.
