DESCRIPTION:This Entry-Level Construction Skills certified pre-apprenticeship training provides credentials and hands-on experience to connect individuals to careers in construction. \nIn partnership with Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District (MMSD) and Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC)\, this incentivized program focuses on the water and sewer sector\, preparing participants for apprenticeships in the trades with steamfitters\, electricians\, plumbers\, sheet metal\, ironworkers\, and more. \nClasses Run: \nAugust 18 – December 12 at WRTP | BIG STEP Milwaukee & MATC’s Milwaukee Campus \nAttend an Info Session to Learn More: \nJuly 22\, July 29\, or August 5\n5 – 6 PM at WRTP | BIG STEP \nThis program will make you STAND OUT* \nClasses Include: \n\nOSHA certification\nFirst aid/CPR\nConstruction mathematics\nBasic blueprint reading\nPrinciples of water resources\nCDL preparation\nHands-on projects\nTrades application assistance\nContractor engagement & networking\n\nRequirements: \n\nValid driver’s license or the ability to obtain a license\nHigh school diploma\, GED\, or HSED\nSocial Security card\nUpdated resume\nDrug-free (ability to PASS a drug screen)\nSeeking a career in construction\n\n*Successful completion of this program increases your opportunity for a career in the skilled trades in the water sector. DESCRIPTION:The BIG STEP Builders program provides high school juniors and seniors the opportunity to build basic construction skills and explore the industry through hands-on learning\, presentations from union members\, application assistance\, and more. \nBIG STEP Builders takes place on weekends to work around high school students’ busy schedules.
