Summer Trades Academy 2027
Want to learn more about a career in the skilled trades?
Try WRTP | BIG STEP’s 2027 Summer Trades Academy from June 21 – 25, 2027, for current high school juniors & seniors in the Milwaukee Area. Get exposure and explore career options in the construction skilled trades!
- Visit trade halls and contractor facilities
- Watch live demonstrations
- Participate in hands-on activities
- Learn about the apprenticeship process in union construction
Requirements:
Must attend an information session with a parent or guardian, complete the registration process, be a current student living within the city of Milwaukee, and be able to commit to a 9 AM – 2 PM schedule from June 21 – 25 to participate in the Summer Trades Academy.

January 6 & 20 | February 3 & 17 | March 3 & 17 | April 5, 14, & 28 | May 12 & 26, all at 5 PM

WRTP | BIG STEP’s FREE Entry-Level Construction Skills Training Program provides participants with hands-on experience and prepares them to pursue career opportunities in construction.
Training includes construction math, blueprint reading, tools and materials identification, hands-on projects, and more, with opportunities to earn credentials including OSHA 30, First Aid/CPR, forklift certification, and the nationally recognized MC3 credential.
