BIG STEP Orientation Q4 2026
BIG STEP (Building Industry Group Skilled Trades Employment Program) is an apprenticeship readiness tutoring and training program dedicated to helping community residents prepare for and succeed in careers in the construction trades.
Orientation sessions take place at 3841 W Wisconsin Ave; Milwaukee, WI 53208.
October 6 | 9 AM
October 13* | 4 PM & return October 15 at 9 AM to test
October 20 | 9 AM
November 3 | 9 AM
November 10* | 4 PM & return November 12 at 9 AM to test
November 17 | 9 AM
December 1 | 9 AM
December 8* | 4 PM & return December 10 at 9 AM to test
December 15 | 9 AM
Orientation is approximately 30 minutes, followed by individual testing with varied times. We will contact you to discuss your customized plan.
*This session is an evening orientation ONLY. ACCUPLACER testing appointments will be scheduled for all attendees to take place the following Thursday at 9 AM.
This orientation provides:
- Overview of WRTP | BIG STEP trainings and programs
- Exposure to occupations and career pathways within the skilled trades
- Assessment of individual needs and strengths
- Testing, tutoring, and other employment preparatory services
- Plan of action for employment
Requirements include:
- Valid driver’s license
- Age 18 or older
- Proof of high school graduation/GED
- Social Security card
- Successful completion of WRTP | BIG STEP Intake Application

WRTP | BIG STEP’s FREE Entry-Level Construction Skills Training Program provides participants with hands-on experience and prepares them to pursue career opportunities in construction.
Training includes construction math, blueprint reading, tools and materials identification, hands-on projects, and more, with opportunities to earn credentials including OSHA 30, First Aid/CPR, forklift certification, and the nationally recognized MC3 credential.
