Southeast Wisconsin Continues To See Significant Growth In The Construction Industry With The Number Of Jobs Expected To Grow By 14.3% By 2030.
Racine County is at the epicenter of this growth. Recently, Microsoft announced plans to invest $3.3 billion in new data centers, which is expected to result in 2,300 construction jobs. Investments in major building projects by Racine County, the City of Racine, and Racine Unified School District are also adding to the demand for construction tradespeople locally.
For those individuals who are new to the industry, apprenticeships and career training programs offered by Gateway Technical College and WRTP are available to prepare students for construction jobs. Local 118, the Plumbers and Steamfitters Union, are also working to build a qualified workforce to support new construction projects and ongoing regional needs.
Racine County construction firms like Bukacek Construction, Scherrer Construction, and Wanasek have immediate entry-level and experienced workers job openings. In addition, Walsh Construction and The Boldt Company, two contractors actively supporting the Microsoft Datacenter Project, are looking to employ additional workers at all levels of experience.
